Cupcake Love

Last weekend our friend Hana brought her mom P’Sai, the owner of Love to Bake Home Bakery to the garden to help us with a special workshop. We got to work with P’Sai’s special baking instruments to mold icing fondant into a host of feathery friends. We rolled and flattened, cut and placed our fondant on top of the yummy vanilla cake. By the end of class there were little owls on a branch and also some ducks and chickens. Thanks P’Sai for your patient and caring tutorial! We had so much fun!

One of the cupcakes became our snack, and the other we took home to share with our families, mmm mmm good.

Shampoo making

This weekend we had the pleasure of hosting Auntie Orn in our kitchen for an all-natural shampoo making workshop.

First we recorded our garden fresh ingredients in pictures and words.

Then we designed our bottle packaging and named our shampoo, ‘Dove’, ‘Eat Me’, and ‘Song kran’ were some of our favorite titles.

Next, we added our ingredients to a large bowl to prepare for boiling.

Finally, we strained our fragrant mixture and bottled it to take home.

Thanks Auntie Orn for the visit, we can’t wait for our next Sustainability for Kids workshop! See you on Saturday for soap-making!

A week at the beach

We had some excellent helpers in our garden last week getting messy with sand and exploring all areas of beach life. We hope you enjoyed our sand cake, ocean in a bottle, sandpaper art, and our very favorite “Puffer fish pose.”
