Summer Camp: Outer space, inner mind

This past week our garden was full of astronauts, asteroids, aliens, a couple moons and rockets as we used our imaginations to travel to the edges of the solar system. Here are some of our favorite moments with our brilliant buddies.

One of the most delicious moments was making Chocolate Banana Oatmeal Moon Cookies, vegan and non-vegan versions. Yum Yum Yum.

Thanks to our friend Kimmy, we learned some amazing clay sculpting techniques and took home some tiny Pikachus and people!

We used a little paper, oil pastels and scissors to create a shadow puppet laser pointer with the help of a very special facilitator.

Partner poses give us a chance to experience our own strength while supporting our friends, relay races help us work together and recycled boxes make the silliest hats.

Some musical scales, asteroid inspection and moon demolition, exploring caves on other planets… all a part of our Summer of Fun here in the garden. Thank you so much for filling our week with imaginative fun, we can’t wait to welcome you again soon.

Cooking with Wow Pam!

We were so grateful to host Pam Pimmas, the owner of The Dorm Bakery and the creator of http://wowpam.com/  this past week at our garden! We learned about using plants like pandan, butterfly pea flowers, and pumpkin to add natural coloring to the tapioca and rice flower balls of the Thai dessert, Bua Loy.

Our favorite part was rolling out the dough into little balls, and some giant ones too!

Then we watched very carefully as the balls were boiled and helped to measure out the palm sugar (yum!) and coconut milk.

Ta da: our finished product, tasty Bua Loy.

Lastly, we got to taste our yummy creation, mmmm mmmm mmm good! Thanks Pam for joining us, we hope to see you again soon.

A week at the beach

We had some excellent helpers in our garden last week getting messy with sand and exploring all areas of beach life. We hope you enjoyed our sand cake, ocean in a bottle, sandpaper art, and our very favorite “Puffer fish pose.”

Thank you for your smiles!

What a wonderful celebration of our opening. Thank you friends for filling our day with delicious food, activities, batgirls, ponies, Spiderman and so much more.

We’ll see you soon!

Grand Opening BBQ

bbqinviteWe will have a collaborative art project underway at our grand opening and we would love you to be a part of it. Join us for a night of yummy food, games, photo booths and friendship at our BBQ. There will be options for vegans, vegetarians and the carnivores among us. We can’t wait to celebrate with you.

Garden Week

This week we explored all things garden. We used out body to mimic the shapes of seeds and stems to flowers blooming, we used our hands to trace and sketch the shapes of flowers, we dug in the dirt and repurposed old plastic bottles to bring new life, AND then we made the most delicious dirt chocolate to eat in cooking class.

We had so much fun growing with you this week, thanks for reminding us that every seed is special and unique to it’s soil and circumstances.

Happy Chinese New Year

This weekend we hosted some of our first visitors at Kids Yoga Garden to make Chinese Dragon puppets in celebration of Chinese New Year. This of course involved playing with our wall sized chalk boards, experimenting with colors and materials and having a dragon parade through our house! ❤

2017 is the year of the Fire Rooster and we hope it is a lucky and prosperous year for all.
